Regional Convenings, Conferences, and Learning Forums at The African Pleasure Hub
The African Pleasure Hub (APH), hosted by the Kenya SRHR Alliance, actively participates in key regional and global spaces to advance a sex-positive and pleasure-affirming SRHR agenda across the continent. Through our involvement in regional convenings, global conferences, and learning forums, we continue to elevate African voices, share best practices, and build solidarity among organizations championing pleasure-based approaches.
Across 13 African countries, the Hub has established itself as a platform for evidence generation, shared learning, and collective advocacy. We bring to each engagement the lived experiences, innovations, and success stories of our network — demonstrating how pleasure-centered education and advocacy can transform how sexual health and rights are understood and practiced.
Showcasing
APH has presented its work at notable convenings such as the Reproductive Health Network Kenya (RHNK) Conference, the International AIDS Conference, and the International Conference on Family Planning (ICFP). In these forums, we have showcased how integrating pleasure into SRHR discourse strengthens outcomes in sexual health, agency, and gender equality. We share insights on training facilitators, developing pleasure-positive learning materials, and building movements that deconstruct shame, affirm desire, and promote informed choice.
Our participation in these spaces goes beyond presentations — it is about creating connections, sparking curiosity, and co-creating knowledge. We engage policymakers, educators, and young advocates to reimagine SRHR through the lens of pleasure, joy, and well-being. These moments of exchange help us refine our frameworks, document learning, and inspire others to embrace pleasure as a fundamental right, not a taboo.
Through these convenings, APH continues to:
Share tested models and evidence on integrating pleasure into sexuality education and advocacy.
Facilitate cross-country learning and mentorship among pleasure champions across Africa.
Amplify African leadership in global conversations on sexual health and rights.
Foster collaboration and accountability through country caucuses and regional movements.
As we look to the future, the African Pleasure Hub remains committed to deepening our collective learning, expanding our regional reach, and sustaining a growing movement that celebrates pleasure as an integral part of human experience and health.
